Philosophy of Treatment
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
I believe in utilizing evidence-based approach to therapy which will help you in significantly improving functioning and quality of life. When using CBT, we will work together to identify faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking, learned patterns of unhelpful behavior and learn better ways of coping with them, while also increasing your confidence in your ability to manage your symptoms or situation at hand.
When struggling with an addiction, relapse prevention is an evidence based and high effective approach. I will help you in identifying triggers or risky situations (for example social pressures and emotional states) that could lead to thoughts about using substances, cravings and urges to use. Our sessions will consist of increasing your awareness of negative consequences surrounding high risk situations, develop coping skills, plan for emergencies or unexpected situations, and increase your confidence in your ability to abstain from substance use even when faced with challenging situations.
Solution Focused Therapy
While using Solution Focused Therapy, we will develop solutions by envisioning your life without the problem or your situation improved to a degree in which you are satisfied. We will then identify the necessary resources to construct a practical and sustainable solution that can be readily implemented. Our main objective will be to identify goals reflective of your best hopes and developing satisfying solutions.
